About Me

Hello! My name is Kira Wefers, and I am a theatrical director, choreographer, intimacy choreographer, performer, filmmaker, teaching artist, academic, and UC Berkeley graduate. Through my work with BareStage Productions, UC Berkeley’s TDPS Department, Untitled Theater Company, and the Oakland Theater Project, I have grown into the creative and leader I am today, and I am dedicated to continuing in the process of developing and refining my style, craft, and self.

I pride myself on creating abstract, expressionist, and inspired works, as well as fostering collaborative, compassionate, and inclusive rehearsal and performance spaces. I am constantly striving to improve my craft and my abilities, searching for opportunities to grow. My training in intimacy choreography, as well as directing and choreography, strongly influences the way that I approach the theater, as I aim to create challenging and unique works of theater using consent-based and trauma-informed practices.

I hope you will join me in my quest to craft revolutionary works of theater and engaging, expansive spaces for creatives and audiences alike. Thank you for reading, and I’d love to hear from you soon!
